Chapter 6

The next day, Bruno and Max had decided to go ring shopping.

“I’m planning of asking her on her birthday? You think that’s a good idea?”

“I think it’s a great idea!” Max said excitedly.

“I’m gonna need your help though, would you and Maya mind spending time with my friend Phil?”

“Not at all, I like Phil.”               

“Okay great!” Bruno said looking over at some rings, they were all so nice he didn’t know which one to pick out. “What do you think of that one?” He said pointing at a big diamond ring.

“It’s nice, but Aunt Kiki likes simple things.” Max said looking at the rings.

It’s true, he thought, she did like simple things. They looked over what seemed like thousands of rings, and when they thought there was no hope, they finally found one. It was perfect! Silver band with little diamonds going around it, and his was plain. He told the jeweler to carve ‘forever’ into both of the rings.

‘Forever.’ He thought, he couldn’t wait to spend the rest of his life with the woman he loved. They got the rings packed and were on their way home.

“Now remember Max, no one finds out about this until I ask her. Alright?”

“Yes Uncle Bruno.” Max smiled, he’s wanted to say that for so long on.

Bruno looked over at the kid and couldn’t help but smile, he wanted his own child to be just like Max. There was so much innocence in him. They pulled up in front of the house, and went inside.

“Hunny we’re home.” Bruno yelled out as soon as he stepped into the house.

Kiara walked out of the kitchen with Maya behind her. He looked at them, he couldn’t wait to have children of his own with her…he was sure now more than ever that he wanted to start a family with her.

“What took you guys so long? And where did you even go?” They had told her they were just ‘going out’ she had no idea what that meant.

Max and Bruno looked at each other. “It’s boy stuff Aunt Kiki, you won’t understand.” He said winking at Bruno.

She picked Max up. “Oh yeah? Trying to act smart with your Aunt Kiki now aren’t you?”

 “Yes!! Now I’m hungry…can we have some lunch please?”

“Sure thing Kiddo lets go.”

The week just zoomed past, I couldn’t believe how close Bruno and I were. With Max and Maya around we felt as though we were already raising a family. It felt nice. Our nights on the other hand, were anything but quiet. There was no holding back, there was no shyness like the first time, there was no fear of giving pain. We were becoming animals.

“I love you.” He said pausing.

“I love you too, now kiss me before I go crazy.”

“Well looky here, you’re a little lioness now aren’t you.”

“Hence my name.” I winked at him, and kissed him again. Who knew I would be the one to be so eager in bed, but that’s what Bruno did to me, always made me want him more.

August 29th. My birthday, and no one was here…I guess that was okay, I still had Bruno and the kids, it would still be a great day. They had already surprised me and made me breakfast in bed. It was so cute their pancakes were all funny shaped…but I didn’t mind it was too adorable.

“Aunt Kiki!” Max came in, interrupting my thoughts.

“Yes darling?”

“Could you drop us to Phil’s house?”

“What?” I looked at him confused.

“Well Phil said he would show me how to play the guitar, and Maya wants to go play with the baby they have.”

Phil’s fiancé just had a baby, and Maya being the girly girl she loved holding babies. “Okay, I guess I can drop you guys off for a while.” I smiled, he was so excited.

“Okay great I’ll go get ready.” He walked out, then ran back in and gave me a hug. “You’re the best Aunt Kiki…Happy Birthday again. I love you.”

“I love you too Max, and thank you…you’re the greatest little nephew anyone could have.”

“I know!” He smiled. “Okay I’m going to get ready now.” And just like that, he was out the door.

I quickly went and changed Maya’s clothes, then took the 2 of them down to Phil’s house, he was already expecting them. I went inside to see his new bundle of joy.

I picked up his little baby, oh he was so cute, so tiny my heart melted when I saw him. “He’s so cute.”

“He looks just like daddy.” Emily, Phil’s fiancée said

“He really does. Are you sure it’s okay to leave Maya here too?”

“Yes! It’s fine, you know I love having her around.”

“Yeah!” Emily usually would watch Maya if I needed to go for my dance classes and Bruno was busy at the studio. “She loves babies.”

Emily laughed. “Yeah, she’s very good with my boy.”

“Kiki, I wanna hold baby.” I heard Maya speak up.

“Okay Maya sit down and be careful okay?”

“Okay!” She sat down and I gently put the baby on her lap.

“Well I better get going now, it was nice seeing you again Em.” I hugged her goodbye.

“It was great seeing you too. Have fun.” She winked at me.

I walked out, thinking of what she may have meant by “have fun”.

I drove up too my house, it looked kind of dark, which was odd my house was usually shining with lights…I parked my car and made my way to the door, I was about to put the key in when I noticed that the door was already opened. I pushed it and went inside. My heart stopped as soon as I got inside, the lights were dim, and there were candles everywhere.

“Hello my love.” Bruno said walking towards me.

“What’s all this?” I asked looking around, it was all so beautiful.

“Birthday surprise, come lets have dinner.” He walked her over to the table he had set up.

Pulling out the chair, he smiled “Sit down my lady.”

“Why thank you kind sir.” I sat down and he pushed my chair in, then went to the kitchen and brought out our food. He sat my plate down in front of me, and went to his chair and sat down. He smiled. “Baby, not that I don’t like this...but why did you do all this, I mean you didn’t need to do all this.”

“It’s your birthday…what did you think I wasn’t going to do anything? Come on Kiki you know me.” He smiled.

“True, but this is crazy!” I said looking around, I was starting to wonder how he managed to do all this in such a short time.

“Stop looking around and over-analyzing it, don’t worry there will be no mess created from this I promise.” He smiled, he knew how much she hated a messy house, she had OCD when it came to cleaning.

“Shut up, I wasn’t thinking about cleaning! I was just wondering how you managed to do all this in such a short amount of time.”

“Darling, I’m just full of surprises.” He winked.

“Anymore surprises coming up?”

“You’ll see”

We continued our conversation and finished our dinner, then made our way over to the couch and sat down next to his guitar.

“I wrote a song for you!”

“For me?! Really?”

“Ahah! And I’m not selling this one to anyone, it’s mine.”

“Well, can I hear it?”

“Yes you may!” He smiled, then started playing his guitar.

Her eyes, her eyes make the stars look like they’re not shining


Her hair, her hair falls perfectly without her trying… she’s so beautiful and I tell her everyday.

He finished, looked at me and smiled…and all my dumb self could do was hug him and cry. This was unbelievably amazing, the song, every word had touched my heart and soul. There was so much love in it, and it was so simple…all he was saying was how he thinks. I’m amazing, yet there was so much more meaning to it. I couldn’t control my tears…what can I say I’m an emotional wreck.

“Hey baby, why do you always cry?” He asked looking at her.

“Why do you always do something to touch my heart and soul? Just when I think you can’t get anymore sweeter…you do this.” I laughed a little. He was truly amazing.

He laughed. “Well, I told ya I’m full of surprises.”

“Well I hope this is the last surprise that’ll make me cry.” I said

“Well…..”

“What?” I looked at him, his eyes…they looked…nervous? “What?” I asked again when he said nothing.

“There was something I needed to ask you?” He said.

“Yes Bruno?” I smiled, maybe if I just smiled it would make that look in his eyes go away…but it didn’t.

He then got down on both his knees and sat in front of me. “What’s going on?”

“Kiara, you know I love you right?” He asked.

“Yes…I know.” Where is he going with this?

“And you love me too right?” She’s getting this scared look in her eyes now.

“Yes, I love you more than anything Bruno.” Okay, this is just scaring me.

“You said you couldn’t live without me right?” Oh god, she looks so cute scared I can just kiss her right now.

“Yes I did…where you going with this Mr. Hernandez?” I swear he better have a reason for making my heart race like this.

“I’m just making sure.” He smiled. God I love this girl.

“Okay then, are you done making sure now?” What the heck is going on???

“Ahah, now I can continue.” I hope she says yes, I hope she says yes. Who am I kidding, I know she’s going to say yes.

“Okay…” This is making me go crazy.

He smiled. This is it. It’s now or never. “Kiara, from the day I met you I knew you were special…those 2 weeks we spent at my house was something I never forgot. Your innocent face was always in my mind, your eyes haunted me in my sleep, the thought of your smile never failed to me smile during my worst days. I know we lost touch, well you didn’t cuz you wrote to me everyday and I swear I read every letter. I read it every single day at least once…all of them. You always made me feel better, even though you weren’t there and I never understood why. But when I got here, after spending time with you I knew why…it’s because I love you. I can’t explain what I feel for you in words, that song was just my way of showing it…but it still doesn’t explain the depth of my love for you. You’ve become a part of me Kiara, a part which I can no longer live without.” He paused and wiped her tears. “I would do anything for you, I would give my life up to for you if I had to. You mean so much to me Kiara and it’s so hard to explain it or even understand it sometimes, all I know is there’s no way I can spend my life without you.” He reached into his pocket and pulled out a little box he looked up at her and saw her eyes wide in shock. “So, what I wanted to ask you was….will you marry me?”

She looked at the ring, and then at Bruno. Was this really happening, or am I dreaming…I want to pinch myself but I can’t move, I can feel my heart about to explode. “Yes….yes…..a thousand times yes. I will marry you Peter Gene Hernandez.” I finally managed to get those words out over crying my eyes out.

He had the biggest smile on his face while he put the ring on her finger. “I love you so much.”

“I love you too Bruno, this was the best birthday gift I have ever gotten.” I said, kissing him.

“And it’s not over yet sweetheart.” He picked her up, and carried her upstairs to his room.

He laid her down on his bed and went on top of her. “I love you soon to be Mrs. Hernandez.”

“I love you too Mr. Hernandez.”

“It’s so sexy when you say Mr. Hernandez.”

I chuckled. “You’re so silly sometimes.”  I kissed him, his lips felt so good on mine. Like we were a puzzle, and he was all my missing pieces, our kissed always felt so perfect. Every time we kissed myself being carried into a whole new world, he always made my head spin and my body weak. His cold hands were perfect for the heat going through my body, his touch would always send little shocks inside me. His kisses were getting more aggressive now as were mine, he stripped off my clothes, as I had his. I could feel his skin on mine, it was burning.

How does she always manage to do this to me? How does she always make me go so crazy? Does she know she makes me go crazy? Do I make her go crazy? Why am I asking myself so many questions? God I love this woman, there’s no way I could feel with another woman, what I feel with Kiara. I’ve kissed girls before her, but none ever made my head spin and my heart weak. She manages to do both and more. I can feel her hands on my back, her nails digging into my skin as I go inside her, I can feel her breath on my neck. It makes me go crazy. ‘I love you Hernandez’ I hear her whisper. Oh my God, I look at her and she smiles, oh she knows this makes me crazy. She so knows.

He’s looking at me with so much passion in his eyes, I think I just might burn under them. I kiss him again, not wanting to look into his eyes, I might end up doing something stupid. The man makes me lose control. I let out a gasp of air as he finishes. He lays down beside me and brings me close to him.

“Girl, you know you drive me crazy don’t you?”

“I may know it a little.”

“You know it a lot. You little bugger.”

I laughed and put my hand on his cheek. “I love you.” I said looking into his eyes.

“I know, and I love you too.” He kissed her. Goodness her lips are so soft, just as he was getting more and more into the kiss the phone rang. “This damn phone.”

I laughed, and picked up the phone. “Hello.”

“Well hello there soon to be Mrs Bruno Mars.”

“Hey Phil, so you know about this???”

“Of course I did! How would I not know? Who do you think wrote that song for Bruno?”

“Ohhh, so you wrote the song, and Bruno passed it off as his own?”

“WHAT? He’s a liar!” Bruno yelled out.

“So how are Max and Maya?” I said laughing.

“Oh their great, I was actually just calling to see if you were going to pick them up or if you wanted them to stay here?”

“Oh no, we’ll come pick them up! Don’t want to burden you guys with them.”

“Don’t be crazy, they’re a joy to be around. They’re really good kids.”

I smiled, they really were. “I know, exactly why I want them back.”

Phil laughed. “Okay, I’ll see you guys in a bit then. Later.”

“Bye.” I hung up. “We better get going now.” I said looking at Bruno.

“Yeah, let’s go.”

We got up and dressed and were out the door. We reached Phil’s house in minutes.

“Hey guys!” Phil said opening the door. “Congratulations.” He said hugging me.

“Thanks.” I said hugging him back.

“Aunt Kiki, Aunt Kiki, Aunt Kiki!!!!!” Max said running up to me.

“Hey there little soldier, slow down!”

“So what happened???” Max said eagerly. “Did you do it, did you do it?” He said looking at Bruno.

“Yes sir!” Bruno said proudly.

“Well did she say yes?” He looked over at Kiara. “Did you say yes Aunt Kiki?” He had the biggest smile on his face.

“Okay first of all, you’re speaking too fast, and secondly how do you even know all this?”

“I just do! So tell me now?” He was too eager.

“I said yes you little stud.”

“REALLY” He hugged his aunt. “I knew you would.” He ran over to Bruno “She said yes! She said yes uncle Bruno!” He seemed happier then I was, I smiled at him. He really loved Bruno, he was already saying ‘uncle’.

“Oh Max, your truly one of a kind.” I said laughing.

“I know.” He smiled. “Can we go home now, Maya’s getting sleepy.”

“Maya, or you?” I asked raising an eyebrow, he always took Maya’s name when he wanted something.

“Both actually.”

I laughed. “Okay, I’ll go grab your sister.”

Bruno and Max said their goodbyes and went to the car. I walked over to the baby’s room, knowing I’d find my little niece there…and there she was sleeping next to the baby, she looked so cute it made my heart melt.

“Isn’t she just adorable?” I heard Emily whisper. “She takes care of Sean like he’s her son not mine.”

I smiled. “She really loves babies, at home all she does is play with her little dolls. How long has she been sleeping for?”

“Not long, maybe 15 minutes now.” Emily smiled and looked at me, then at my finger. “So you said yes I see.” She winked at me.

“Yeah.” I said blushing. “How could I say no to him?”

“So, would your family be okay with this whole marriage thing?” She asked, knowing my brothers were crazy.

Oh My God. My brothers. I had totally forgot about them, how would I tell them? What would they say? I don’t think they’re even ready to let go yet. “I….don’t….know.” I managed to say. “To be honest, the thought hadn’t crossed my mind until now.”

“Well, they should be happy for you, you found someone who truly loves you and if they love you they should be okay with that.” Emily smiled. She was right, if my brothers wanted me to be happy then they would just have to be okay with the fact that I wanted to marry Bruno.

“You’re right, I just don’t know how I’m going to tell them.”

“Well, if you need me to be there I will.” She smiled, Kiara was becoming more of a little sister to her.

“Thanks Em, I better get going now Bruno and Max are waiting outside.”

“Okay hun, but come by more often! With Phil always in the studio it gets a bit lonely here.”

I smiled, I knew what she meant. “Will do, besides I’m sure Maya will make me bring her to see little Sean more often.” I picked her up not wanting to wake her. “Bye Em.” I said giving her an one arm hug.

“Bye Kiara.”

With that, I was out the door in minutes.

“What took you guys so long?” Max said as I approached the car.

“Sorry sweety, I was talking to Emily.” I put Maya down in her car seat next to Max.

As we drove home, I was thinking about what Emily had said about telling my brothers. Adam would understand, he always did. Ryan – he wouldn’t understand as well, he would probably throw some hissy fit and tell me how I’m too young to even think about marriage, and I don’t even want to think about what Matt would say. The thoughts of my brothers were really making my head spin, I’ll have to talk to Danielle first, she’ll know what to do! We pulled up in front of the house, Max and Maya were both fast asleep. Bruno carried Max while I took Maya, we put them both in their beds and went back to Bruno’s room.

“Okay, spill it.” He said sitting down next to me.

“What ever do you mean?” I asked.

“You’ve been so quiet, what’s going through that mind of yours?” He asked looking a bit concerned.

“Nothing, it’s just – it’s nothing.” I didn’t know what to tell him, I didn’t want him to think I didn’t want to marry him.

“It’s something, I can see it in your eyes…now tell me or…or…or.” Damn why can’t I think of anything?

“Or what huh?” I said smiling, he was too cute.

“Or I won’t ever kiss you again.” She can’t live without my kisses, he smiled at the thought.

“Are you kidding me?” I said laughing.

“No!” I wonder if me trying to look serious is working.

“You’re serious face is not working, and it doesn’t look good on you either.” I said laughing.

He frowned. “Will you just tell me please? What is it? Do you not trust me?”

Oh no, the trust card…I sighed now I had to tell him. “No baby, I trust you. It’s just that…don’t get me wrong I want to marry you. I just don’t know what to tell my brothers…they won’t be as understanding.” I looked away, I didn’t want to cry.

“Look, I know Max and Ryan can be a little crazy…Adam not so much, but trust me I will get them to agree.” He smiled, he knew her brothers loved her more then anything. “You don’t worry about this at all. Leave it all up to me to convince them.”
