Chapter 1

30/05/2011 23:33

I slammed the door to my room.

I looked at the time, 2:30 am. I freaking HATE this place, I cannot wait until I was 18 so I could get FAR away from this place.  This place was Wilmington, North Carolina aka hell.

“Olivia, open this door NOW” I heard dad yell, angrily.  I got up and swung it open.
“What?!” I yelled in his face, mom was behind him, she looked upset.
“We need to talk young lady; your behavior is out of control. Coming home in the early hours of the morning, drunk or high isn’t appropriate, you’re lucky the police never get involved.” He said to me. Whatever, I didn’t care, I was 16 years old, enjoying life….that’s all that matters, right?  “Sit down, we have to tell you something” Dad said seriously now. I sat down on my bed.
“Yes, please tell me, because I absolutely care...” I said sarcastically.
“Olivia, please listen..” mom said quietly, ugh she was such a baby...
“Your mother and I have been discussing this for a while now and we think we’ve made the right decisions...” Dad trailed off. Great I was probably being sent to military school; well they couldn’t make me go. I crossed my arms and gave them a confident look.
“I’m pregnant, honey and your father and I think it’s best for you to go and take a year with your aunt and uncle in Hawaii, during my pregnancy.” She said sweetly. Pregnant?! Hawaii?! A year!? What the fuck was this!??!
I jumped up off the bed, “WHAT!? Great, so you’re going to have a new kid and just replace me?! You can’t send me away, I will not go!” I yelled walking over to the window.
Dad looked mad again, “Olivia, you’re leaving next week, if you don’t we’re going to have to figure something else out for you, and I know you won’t like the other options”  I didn’t say anything.  They waited a couple minutes and left, I closed my door and locked it, I grabbed the bottle of vodka from under my bed and drank it, eventually passing out.

I walked into the terminal, my mom tearing up she hugged me “I really do love you sweetie, we’ll see you soon, I’ll call as often as I can” Whatever, I didn’t say anything. My dad gave me a hug and kissed my head. I walked off without turning back, I had a smile on my face, I wouldn’t have to see, or deal with them for a whole year, maybe this would be good.
Finally the flight was over, it was so long, and I was really tired. I saw Aunt Brenna waiting for me, they smiled when they saw me and Aunt Brenna ran over and gave me a huge hug, she was my mom’s younger sister. “Liv!! I’m so glad you’re here, oh, let me take one of your bags!” she said, excitedly, grabbing my carry on. I smiled.

Aunt Brenna, she was loud and full of life, she was an artist, moved here to paint and take pictures.  We went out to the car and drove back to the house. I had never been to their house. when we saw each other, she always visited us. It was a huge, beautiful house, right on the beach.

“Wow” I muttered.
Aunt Brenna smiled “Nice, huh? Come on, I’ll show you your room.” She led me up the stairs to a room with light green walls, a queen sized bed and a beach theme, there was a huge window on the side looking towards the beach, the sun was setting, it was absolutely breathtaking. I suddenly wanted to go home, I didn’t like this feeling, I had a feeling that I would like it here; I wanted to go out to club and party. I’d most likely end up sneaking out, but I had no idea where anything was…damn...ok, maybe another night. It was Friday, August 26th; school started on Monday…my new school, with new people. Ugh.
“Aright, well I’ll let you get settled, we’ll be right down the hall if you need anything” She smiled and closed the door.
I lay down on the bed; this was going to be a long, interesting year.
